Catching up, part 2

We enjoyed having Dakota here for a week. It's too bad Leanna and Adam wanted him back. He is at the age when everything is cute, especially when we only see him once in a while. Sabrina really liked to take care of Dakota. She got him dressed in the morning, brushed his teeth, and even changed a few diapers when she thought they needed changed. When I asked the girls why they were not as nice to their brother they said, "Because he's our brother". I guess if Dakota was here for a while the novelty would wear off.

We went to the Great Basin Adventure park the last day he was here. As you can see, it was the only time I took pictures.

There was a log ride that Dakota wanted to go on, but he was a little too short so he sat in this log pointing to the water, asking me to put it in so he could have a ride. Once he ran to the line and cut under the railing and was about to hop in the log, but I was too fast and foiled his attempt. After that we decided to sneak him on. (It wasn't really that sneaky, they were not too strict with the height). He loved it!

Nicholas, on the other hand, doesn't really like the log ride. I was able to get him to go on once, but that was it.

Snow cones are always a nice end to a hot day. Dakota especially liked catching the drips from Lindsay's snow cone, and then licking it off his hand.

The next morning we headed off to the family reunion. It was in Mapleton where some friends of the family have a beautiful barn with a pond behind it, right next to the mountains. I spent a lot of time on the pond with Nicholas in the paddle boat and canoe. The pond was equipped with a rope swing and the girls were brave enough to give that a try. We had a great time visiting with family and playing.

Memories in the making. Grandma and Grandpa Crook going down the slip in slide.
