Fun with our last visitors

My mom and dad, sister Laura Lee with her kids Julia and Kyler, and Sabrina's friend Cheyanne all joined us for a week.  Their timing was great as they escaped the freezing cold in Nevada and enjoyed the beautiful fall weather here.  We were able to rent a guest suite in our apartment building which meant we could stay up late playing games and spend the daylight hours seeing the sites around DC.  Who needs sleep?  It's highly overrated.

We started with a tour of my favorite place, Mount Vernon.
A gingerbread house of Mount Vernon was being built.  It was amazing.  Even the inside was duplicated.

The grounds at Mount Vernon are beautiful.  I could get used to a back yard like this!

Downtown
The butterfly pavilion was a favorite.

We stopped by Ford's theater but there was a matinée of A Christmas Carol playing so we just saw the outside.  Maybe next time we'll go inside.

We played a riveting volleyball game:  Relief Society vs Young Women.

The vacation ended with Thanksgiving dinner which my cousin and his beautiful family graciously hosted.  Between dinner and dessert we had a little play time outside in the leaves.
The girls like to stick together

Now it's time to start packing for our next adventure.

Is it our farm roots that makes Mt. Vernon our favorite place? It is mine also. Thanks for the great posts and the darling picture of Rachel. Travel safe and calm. What an adventure. You inspire me.
