Spring is here, and just in time!

Just when I was about to be institutionalized the sun started shining.  We had about two months of sickness and dreary skies that I thought would never end.
Everyone but Sabrina took their turn, Nicholas and I had several turns, with different ailments.  We are apparently designed to be healthy only in Nevada.  Flues, fevers, coughs, colds, allergies, asthma, bronchitis, throat infections....the list goes on and on.  (My very favorite was the surprise of lice for one child, with my small capacity (we are talking 4 towels at a time) washing machine breaking down the next day).
I was lucky enough to find a pharmacy where most of the employees speak English and we have been frequent customers.  They need a reward card for high volume shoppers.
A couple of weeks ago we all felt well enough to go for a walk in the woods.  It's a good thing the weather cooperated that day because the sanity level was quickly dropping in the house.

It's almost scary.  Kids should not be kept inside for long periods of time.  They need an outside outlet.
Now spring is here and the plants are starting to bud.  The forest floor will soon be covered in green.
New life!  My back yard/patio is full of plants and budding flowers.  That is good news for everyone but Sabrina.  While she missed the other sicknesses, she has been breaking out with hives.  It was quite scary at first, but now we know it's not deadly, unless her throat swells up.  We're off to a new doctor today and hopefully we will be able to figure out what she is allergic to.  In the meantime, we are enjoying the sunshine and beautiful weather!

Lisa, It's always fun to get a report from you guys. Glad you are all feeling better for the most part. Two of my kids got hives while we were in Mexico (at different times). When I read about them, I learned that they are caused by viruses as well as allergies. I wouldn't worry too much about them unless Sabrina keeps getting them. Get some calamine lotion and tylenol. We are having a typical Nevada spring here - the weather teases us by turning warm for a day or two, only to turn cold again.
Thanks for the update, you are an entertaining writer. I love to read your blog. Hope you are all on the mend, we have been struggling with illness here too. I hope we are at the tail end.

Lisa, Thanks for the update and for continuing to share your beautiful family with us all! I guess it doesn't matter where in the world one is, spring is such a blessing! Just a side note...it has been a year of tough bugs for us here in Nevada too--including two weeks ago when Charlotte informed me that her head itched like crazy...we have been lice free for a week now. ;-)

Take care and enjoy the sunshine! **Sara
