Spring Break - Part 1

We felt the need to escape the busy city for a week this spring.  We headed to Germany to stay in a house surrounded by fields.  The first night we were there Ryan and I both commented on how dark and quiet it was.  We slept very well all week, and I don't think it was because of the beds.  The timing was perfect.  The weather was gorgeous and the fields were covered in flowers.  More specifically, dandelions.
While one lone dandelion is not necessarily spectacular, miles and miles of them are beautiful.

The house that we were renting was surrounded by country roads winding through fields.  We spent many hours just walking around the area every day.

The kids quickly became intimately acquainted with our surroundings by throwing off their shoes and rolling down the hills.
Nicholas discovered that by laying down while no one was looking he could be nearly invisible.  He was hiding once and it took us a while to find him.
Some of the things that I miss while living in a big city - sunsets, stars, dark sky
We were able to let off a little steam with a friendly pillow fight.
And that brings you to the end of our first day, minus the 7+ hour drive.  More will follow.

My sentiments exactly. After living in a big city, after awhile you really miss some wide open spaces and seeing it get really dark or seeing the sun rise or set. Your trip looks really fun. I hope you finish the rest of the trip.
