A different kind of Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. Food, family, more food, late night games, even more food, sports to work off a portion of what we ate, cutting down the Christmas Tree...
Although we didn't have family around we had enough Thanksgiving food to get us through until next year. The kids had school on Thursday but they stayed home to help with the dinner preparations. It just doesn't seem right to go to school on Thanksgiving day.
My contribution to our big Thanksgiving dinner has always been a salad and a one pie. Now that I'm on my own and will be for many years we had to figure out how to fix all the yummy goodness we've grown accustomed to every year. I'm happy to say everything turned out. We had a total of 3 Thanksgiving dinners and I was able to get out of cooking a turkey. I don't think I would have been able to fit the one I bought in my oven anyway. And, the oven was very busy with rolls, cornbread, stuffing, pies, etc. etc. etc.

A very delicious turkey that I practically forced my neighbor to cook
Here are my helpers preparing the apples for the pie.
Sabrina was the photographer and chef/baker #2. She may be taking the #1 spot next year.
The traditional 7 layer dip
Rolls are mandatory
We cooked a lot of food. We also ate a lot of food. I love Thanksgiving.
Sports are always a good idea after a big meal
We missed our family but like sharing our traditions with others. Maybe next year we will have visitors. (This is an invitation. Come visit us. You know you want to.)
