Spring Break

We had a wonderful vacation last year during Spring break.  I discovered a website where I can find what I'm looking for in a vacation.  I simply go to www.homeaway.com and search for a house to rent on a farm.  Last year we stayed near Fussen, Germany, in dandelion heaven, walking for hours on quiet deserted paths.

If we grew tired of the scenery we could go hiking for different views, like this one.  It was wonderful.

I would have been happy to go back again this year but was told we should really see other areas.  I went to my trusty website and looked for house on a farm to rent again, this time in France.

I found a farm and Ryan booked the house.  He asked me what it was near and what we could do.  My reply was,  "Nothing, we are staying in the middle of nowhere.  It's the perfect vacation."

Nearby was the village of Essoyes where the artist Renoir lived.  It was very charming and quiet and made me feel as if we had gone back in time.  Unfortunately I didn't take a single picture of the town.  Sabrina took a picture of one street that she liked lined with plants.

We were able to take advantage of a rope swing near a park.  Miraculously, no one fell in although I only went once...I didn't want to push my luck.

We took our bikes and rode around the countryside and through a couple of villages.

Back at our little cottage the kids enjoyed being outside and playing with the animals.

Lindsay spent a lot of time brushing the pony and even learned how to put the saddle on.
Nicholas and Lindsay rode the pony a couple of times but she was quite lazy and was hard to get moving.  The fresh green grass was just too tempting.

We tested out uphill/downhill bicycling capabilities.  Nicholas only likes to ride on flat ground so it was a bit challenging for him but he did get a lot of walking in.

Now we are back home enjoying our second week of spring break.  I love the long holiday breaks in Europe.  Now if only Ryan had more vacation time...
