May Madness

We were excited to have Ryan's Parents come to visit us  in May.  They came earlier than expected and the first few days they were here I was still attending my French class so they toured Brussels on their own.  The second week they went to The Netherlands with Ryan and the girls, then headed to Switzerland to visit Seigfried's uncle Jakob while I was in London with Nicholas for some testing.

While I was in London at the Dr's office I ran into my amazing friend who moved away from Brussels last summer.  Nicholas and I were both excited to spend some time with them in between appointments.

Nicholas braved the heights and even went on the London Eye.

We were so happy to spend some time with friends there.  We're hoping to coordinate our next visit.

We kept very busy in Paris for a few days with Ryan's parents and wore everyone out.
When looking through our pictures I realized I don't have many of Ryan's parents.  I think most pictures of them were taken with their camera.  It's not that they weren't with us, we just didn't share pictures.

This time we went all the way to the tippy-top of the Eiffel Tower.

Lindsay getting a better look.  I'm happy to report that she did not get her head stuck.
Eiffel tower tip:  Take the stairs if you're able.  It's much faster than the elevator and not a bad climb.
(This picture is obviously of the trip back down.  I'm sure my viewers don't want a picture of backsides).

The Arc de Triomphe

We found a shoe store with Lindsay's name all over it.

Bypassing the stairs, only to climb back up to slide down again.

Occasionally it was necessary to stop and rest for a bit.

We waited in line for well over an hour to get into the Louvre, but the time went by quickly.  The courtyard area we were waiting in had lots to look at and Lindsay and Nicholas had fun running and playing.  I have a feeling the wait would have seemed a lot longer if they were forced to stand with us.

Lindsay wanted to take a picture of the Mona Lisa up close, so she did.
I stayed behind while she and Nicholas went through the crowd in a matter of seconds.  I'm not fond of crowds and I was glad they came back out.  A little one could get lost in there.

The museum was huge and we saw just a small portion, mostly the Italian section.  Lindsay had been studying the Renaissance and had just recently gone on a field trip to Florence where that knowledge was given new life.  It was fun to go around the museum with her so she could tell me background information on the painters and their art.

One of Nicholas and Lindsay's favorite thing is looking at the locks on some of the bridges in Paris.  Couples attach them as a symbol of their everlasting love.

Let's not forget Sacre Coeur.

Ryan's parents were fantastic guests and helped out a lot with laundry, dishes, etc... in between their sightseeing, of course.  They mastered the metro system and have probably seen more in Brussels than I have.  We enjoyed having them here to visit.
